Back from an incredible trip to Honduras.  So much laughter, hard work, poverty, tears, worship, beauty, desperation, awe.  So much of God.  I am changed in ways I cannot even put to words quite yet.

Infinity Summer Plans

Here's what's going on in the world of Infinity this summer...

Our Summer Theme: "Inside Out"

Sundays "In": The Buzz - 10:35, Infinity Room at Bayside Church
We will be going through a series of talks given by Louie Giglio called "Freedom: Untangling the Lies and Embracing the Truth"

Sundays "Out": Each Sunday after 2nd Service (12:00pm), starting June 1st, we will be going out to lunch and/or to various fun places.  This is an opportunity to get your friends involved who don't normally come to church.  Let me know if you have ideas of fun activities or unique places to eat! (Already on the list: Frenchy's and Beach Volleyball, BD's and a Matinee, Island Cookout and Canoeing, Casa Tina, Mellow Mushroom, Buffalo Wild Wings...)

Deeper Inside Out: Every 2nd and 4th Thursday, Starting May 29th, 7:00pm, Lane Burrell's and Heather Roush's house
This is Deeper, Summer Style with a touch of Zeteo (Don't know what that means? Come and find out!)

Summer Seminars:  Only two this year...
#1:  Looking Inside...Your Car! (Basics on checking/changing your oil, inflating/changing your tires, general engine maintenance, etc.)
        June 14th, 10am-12pm
#2:  Looking Outside...The Political Games (How do we sort out all the political talk and understand the issues?  Who would Jesus vote for?)
        July 26th, TBD

Our Outward Focus:  Children in need! At different times throughout the summer, we will take the opportunities that come our way to serve children in need.  Specifically, we will be working with the Florida Youth Ranch, TLP (Transitional Living Program - shelter for abused women and children), and Hope Children's Home.  If you know of or discover other ways we can reach out to abandoned, abused, neglected, hungry or at-risk kids, let me know and we'll plan some way to get involved!  Watch and listen for more information about these opportunities in the coming days...

~and last but not least...

Infinity Camping in Georgia! August 6th - 10th, $60 which includes transportation, food, and lodging (tents, of course!).  White Water Rafting on the Ocoee is an optional $40 extra.  This is the greatest trip ever...

Call me, email me, text me, message me on MySpace or Facebook (we have an Infinity group, by the way) or get a hold of me somehow if you have ANY questions, thoughts, or ideas!  I love you all!  No really, I mean it...

I've been revived.  It feels like I've been awakened from a long nap, you know - the kind where you're sort of awake but too drowsy to move.  I'm still rubbing my eyes and trying to bring the world around me into focus, but I'm definately moving again.  It started with attending a conference called "Everything Must Change" with Brian McClaren.  I was further shaken by an experience at IHOP's "Onething."  Then just last weekend, I was thrown off the bed by the Passion Regional Conference in Atlanta.

And it's not just about being awakened from...

Discouragement

Confusion

Small Dreams

          But about being awakened to...

God's Kingdom Rule, which was and is and is to come...

The Glory of God in the face of Christ...

The Work of the Spirit from the Inside Out...

More on each of these to come, as I work them out in my life.

Currently Reading
Romans (Interpretation, a Bible Commentary for Teaching and Preaching)
By Paul J. Achtemeier
see related

I've been impacted recently by thoughts stirred from a study of Romans 1.  What is the wrath of God?  According to Paul in Romans 1, it's not an issue of God actively punishing individual acts of sin.  Actually, it is God giving us over to the natural results of living outside of his perfect plan for us.  Three times in this chapter Paul says that God "gave them over" to the results of sin.  So instead of being "sinners in the hands of an angry God," we become sinners outside the hands of a loving, protective, perfect, and powerful God.  God may never abandon us, but he does remove his protecting, guiding, comforting hand from us, until we fall at the foot of the cross and plead for the blood of Jesus to cover us and buy us back from the slavery to our own way that we have chosen.

Sometime in the future I'll ponder the difference between *God's act of turning us over to let sin take it's toll, then wooing us back with kindness (it's his kindness that leads us to repentance - Rom. 2) ~and~ *God's active discipline of us to produce holiness (Heb. 12).

It's that time again...

By this time on Tuesday, I will be worshipping in the only place that has ever felt like a true "sanctuary" to me.  I will join three other ladies on a backpacking adventure in the Great Smoky Mountains next week.  And I have a feeling God has something to say to me...
